Thanks for the response. While the big companies may be sticking to this format, each of us, as participants in our industry have the ability to make this go away long-term.

Explain to recruiters that you’re not willing to do a coding interview. If you’re in a position of influence at your company, encourage them to ditch the coding interviews (or give candidates a choice between a coding interview and a take-home). Publish your thoughts and collect feedback to push your case with management.

We all have the power to push for change in our own small ways, and we should use that power to make the interview process better for all.
